Ikea? For Dinner?
As I am typing this, the garbage truck just rolled by, infiltrating my room with noise and stench. On Friday, I went with my girlfriend, Shumin to Ikea. The newly opened branch at Tampines. Or was it Pasir Ris?
Anyway, we went for dinner. Yeah. You read correctly. Dinner at Ikea. The furniture mall.
Surprisingly, the food was commendable, and cheap. Considering that it was air conditioned. At $5 a plate for fish and chips. It was worth it.
Even the long bus ride over there. However, the ride was made more enjoyable and eventful with Shumin by my side.
However, the complaint of the day got to be reserved for the architects or designers or whoever it was that designed the building’s layout. It was a highly irritating experience, and it will be even more irritating for the people who are in a hurry.
Assuming that you are in a hurry and you need to get to the bedroom necessities. But you’re unable to do so quickly, because first you need to walk through the kitchen appliances, the study room cupboards, the toilet appliances, the kids room, the play area, before you finally reach your destination.
Or, you’re lucky. Whatever you are looking for is right in front of you as soon as you step into the store. You stroll around, you found what you’re looking and then as you’re moving to the cashier, the truth hits you. “Eh? Where is the damn cashier?” And then you need to walk through all the nonsensical above-mentioned sections before you leave the store.
Luckily, there is a saving grace. In event of a fire, there are enough emergency exits available to leave. Much unlike Cineleisure, where the higher floors are only serviced by two super small lifts, where in case of fire, all above will perish.
But enough about complaints, now the good and interesting part of my post. The walk back home. Shumin’s home. Not mine. Walk back home was uneventful, but interesting. Not interesting because of the events on the road. But because of the person I was with. Interesting and wonderful night.
Tired, but definitely worth it. The walk back home I mean. Ikea? If the food was more expensive, it won’t be worth it.
But still, as always, the person I was with, Shumin, my darling, made it all better.
